U.S. Bars Five Europeans for Online Censorship Pressure

The U.S. State Department announced it is barring five European individuals from entering the United States, accusing them of pressuring American tech companies to censor U.S. viewpoints online. The move uses a visa policy from May 2025 aimed at individuals involved in restricting protected speech and is part of a broader effort under the Trump administration to counter what it calls foreign influence on domestic discourse. Secretary of State Marco Rubio justified the bans as necessary to defend free expression, while critics argue the action could strain diplomatic ties with EU nations.
